2 Days Chimpanzee Trekking Safari to Uganda’s Budongo Forest reserve located in Western part of Uganda approximately 4-hour drive away from Kampala as you head to the famous Murchison Falls national Park, it covers an approximate area of 793 sq km of which 53% is forested and the other area is a grassland.
This forest reserve is a home to different wildlife species including over 359 bird species, 465 tree species, 9 primate species, over 289 species of butterfly, 24 mammal species as well as over 130 species of moths. This forest reserve is famous for a diverse of mahogany trees but most important a large number of Chimpanzees in a range of 650 to 750 individuals of chimpanzees.
The reserve has 6 groups of Chimpanzees that are habituated and trekked all year round; this means that visitors are always at high chances of seeing these primates. Trekking starts at 7:00 am in a leadership of the ranger guides to look for these amazing primates that share a DNA of about 98% with the human beings. Chimpanzee trekking can take you 1 hour or even a full day, the time spell it takes for this activity is mainly dependant on the location of these primates. The Budongo forest reserve is managed both by the Uganda wildlife Authority (UWA) and the Jane Good all Institute.
Detailed 2 Days Chimpanzee Trekking Safari to Uganda
Day 1: Arrive Entebbe airport meet greet – transfer to Budongo Forest Reserve
Arrive/ meet with our team, briefing/breakfast, with your guide you will transfer you to Budongo forest. The forest reserve is found near Murchison Falls National Park which is the largest national park in Uganda. This place is a real feel of nature since it’s covered with mahogany trees all over and harbors many primate species as well as birds.
On your arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge as you prepare to take a guided walk within the forest to discover its beauty and wildlife species. Later in the evening, relax at your lodge and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the birds found in the forest. (Meal Plan on Full Board)

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking activity – transfer to – Entebbe for your flight
Morning breakfast at the lodge and thereafter proceed for a chimpanzee trek, this experience takes between 2 to 6 hours as you search for these wonderful primates. As you encounter them, you will be given an hour to spend with them as they play, climb on trees, care for their young ones.
This walk will also expose you to many other wildlife species including; birds, monkeys and other flora. This forest reserve is under the management of both Uganda wildlife authority and Jane Good all primate institutes.
Later after trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch as you prepare to depart back to Kampala in the late afternoon. The guide will drop you off either at your hotel or at the airport for your final departure. (Meal Plan on F/B

If staying in Entebbe, please request assistance at the time of booking this safari to allow us ample time to make arrangements. If departing Entebbe, the same night, please note’ both by use of charter flight or by road’ returns to Entebbe are always late morning (approximately 16h30/17h00), please DO NOT book flights departing prior to 20h00 or 22h00 respectively in order to allow time for security, check in and if any delays due to weather.
